Scholastic/SLJ School Librarian of the Year

Last year, I was awarded the SLJ School Librarian of the Year Finalist award, and I am still so honored to be recognized alongside Michelle Colte and Andy Plemmons– two superstar librarians.

Winning the award made me better librarian because it helped me grow my PLN and become a more connected educator. It has also helped me gain the confidence to present what I’m doing in my library on a global level.

But now it is your turn.  It is time to nominate someone you know or even nominate yourself.

Will you share your awesomeness???

Shelf Challenge Starts Today!

If you haven’t signed up for the #shelfchallenge, it isn’t too late! Read more about the details in my previous post! I’m thinking of getting the kids involved this year too.

Here is the announcement we made today:

“TODAY STARTS THE SHELF CHALLENGE! How many books can you read from ONE shelf?? Sign up today, get your Shelf Challenge Bookmark, and get started READING! At the end of the month, turn in your bookmark and be entered to win free copies of popular books!”

Plus, here are some bookmarks my student aide created in Lucid Press.  Feel free to share and reuse! Once kids sign up, we will put a placard on their shelf “claiming” it and then give them a bookmark! The rest is up to them!
